It’s a long island with a long history. Want to hear it?

Then you’ve come to the right place.

From authors and poets to major-generals and stock car racers, from broadcasters to banjo-players, we bring you interviews focusing on Long Island history and the people who make it.

The Project is hosted by Connie Currie, LIRTVHS vice president, and academic librarian Chris Kretz.

Most interviews are recorded at the Sayville Public Library.

How to find things:

  • Click on the Interviews tab at the top of the page to list them all
  • Click on any of the broad categories to see interviews by topic
  • Browse the tag cloud of related terms
  • Search through the text of each blog post to find interviews

Each interview is an MP3 file that will stream in its own player and you can also download the complete file.

We welcome your feedback. Leave a comment on any post with your own memories or thoughts and let us know what else you’d like to hear.
